AMCS Mini course: On Optimal mass transport: theory and applications

The optimal transport problem consists of finding an optimal strategy to allocate a given amount of resources, where optimality is measured via a suitable cost function. The theory has numerous applications to geometry, analysis, partial differential equations, probability and the applied sciences. In this short course, we introduce the main mathematical ingredients of the theory and discuss existence, uniqueness, and regularity of optimal strategies. Moreover, we discuss applications to geometry and functional inequalities.
